Meet the Conference Curator Committee

A group of specialists in themes related to the environment, socioeconomic development and the Amazon actively participated in the construction of The Amazon and New Economies International Conference. Comprised of representatives from organized civil society, industry, academia and the mineral sector, the curator committee is primarily responsible for the high-level programming and debates that will take place over the three days of the event.

The work of mapping and structuring the lectures and panels began last March, when the first preparatory meeting took place in the capital of Pará, Belém. The meeting sought to outline collectively the main aspects, opportunities and challenges of the new economies in the region.

On the occasion, the CEO of the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM), Raul Jungmann, highlighted that the future of the world is linked to the sustainable future of the environment, which includes important areas such as the Amazon. “Climate issues are at the center of concerns around the world. Conserving biodiversity and tackling deforestation — among other harmful actions — is necessary if we are to deliver an equal or better world to new generations.”

The Curator Committee of The Amazon and New Economies International Conference was composed of the following entities:
